On May 14 Nicki Dublenko, Vice Chair of the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Alberta and Annalise Yuzda, Vice President of Child Care from the YMCA of Northern Alberta were invited to participate in a video call with Honorable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Children, Families and Social Development. In this call we talked about the need for federal leadership for Early Learning and Child Care with strong principles that support quality, affordability, accessibility, flexibility and inclusivity. With strong federal leadership we can move away from the patchwork approach to ELCC to a system that all Canadian families can rely on in every province and territory and across all political lines. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that early childhood educators are essential workers and high quality child care is an essential service in the daily lives of children and families.
Thank you to Minister Hussen for meeting with us.
