Block Play Builds Bodies and Minds: A Day of Professional Learning for the Early Years

Join early learning educators in this full-day extravaganza that will showcase the indoor and outdoor environment as the third teacher, featuring blocks, blocks and more blocks! We will marvel in and with the affordances of many types of blocks, accessories and loose parts and how they provoke and support playful learning in all domains and curriculum areas. This session will invite teachers to think about blocks from an historical perspective that highlights why blocks are still an integral component in all early learning programs and classrooms today. We will think about theory, engage in playful exploration ourselves and spend time formulating a plan of how to bring a greater emphasis on block play back to the children.
