Build a toolbox of strategies to implement with students with Autism: Part 1 - Understanding Autism in the Classroom

Supporting students with Autism and other developmental disabilities in today’s classroom setting can feel overwhelming for educators and educational assistant staff. ERLC will be partnering with Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton to bring research based, strategy focused training to educators this year!

Part 1: Understanding Autism in the Classroom

Autism Spectrum Disorder presents uniquely in every person, as an educator we must become a detective to determine what supports and strategies will work best for each learner. This session will focus on learning about three different stages of development that students with Autism may be working at and what common traits we may see in each stage. Participants will leave the session with a stronger understanding of how students with Autism may process information, express themselves, cope with stressors and navigate the social environment.
