Bullying and Harassment Prevention: A Peer-Education Approach by the Canadian Red Cross

At the end of this one-day training, you will be certified to implement the Canadian Red Cross bullying and harassment prevention program, Beyond the Hurt, in your schools and classrooms. You will learn how to coach and mentor youth to deliver bullying prevention education to their peers, and help them:

  • understand the impact of bullying and harassment;
  • learn how to promote ally peer behaviour through hands-on activities, videos and discussions;
  • recognize and respond to the potential risks associated with use of the internet and other technologies to promote online civility;
  • learn communication and leadership skills to foster safe environments.

Classroom-ready resources that are based on the latest research will be shared, including a USB drive with PowerPoints, videos, printable handouts and grade-specific lesson plans with interactive activities. The training content aligns with Alberta Education's Curriculum in Health and Life Skills or CALM.
