Engaging Children in Sensory Experiences and Process-Oriented Art

In a play-facilitated classroom, the opportunities for deep engagement are endless when we leverage our environment and provide children with open ended materials to enhance their sense of curiosity and creativity; and allow their ideas to drive the development of classroom curriculum.

During this session we will identify the key benefits to engaging children in both Sensory Play and Process Oriented Art.  We will learn to support children’s play and ideas through extending sensory experiences beyond the water and sand table and will examine a variety of art tools and materials that allow children to express themselves through Process Oriented Art.  Many Sensory Bin ideas and recipes will be shared along with a Step by Step plan for developing your own “Atelier” in your classroom.
