Job Summary: 

This part-time job would be perfect for a university or college student. We are conveniently located across from the Mckernan/Belgravia LRT station, and very close to the U of A campus. We're open Monday to Friday, and shifts are either 7am-10am and/or 3pm-6pm.

The Child Care Staff will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the program activities offered at Mckernan Child Care Society (MCCS). They will work cooperatively with all staff for the development and maintenance of our quality child care program.  They will be responsible for handling specific assignments and projects in relation to the operation of the centre.

Essential Functions:

  1. Ensure the children in our care are safe and that their individual needs are being met, through positive supervision and active involvement with the children.
  2. Implement planned program activities and assist in the development of these activities.
  3. Ensure compliance with all MCCS policies and procedures and Provincial Licensing regulations.
  4. Prepare snacks and beverages and assist with housekeeping duties
  5. Ensure proper use of equipment and supplies and inform the ED or Program Supervisors when repairs or supplies are needed.
  6. Communicate with your staff team in regards to child issues and communicate with parents about their child’s accomplishments and issues that may arise.
  7. Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Program Supervisors

 

Job Specifications:

  1. Must be 18 years of age
  2. Previous experience with children an asset
  3. Must have at minimum Province of Alberta Level 1 Child Care Certificate or be willing to obtain by taking the Child Care Orientation Course.
  4. Commitment to the provision of quality child care.
  5. Good interpersonal skills.
  6. Initiative, flexibility, dependability and creativity.
  7. Willingness to participate in professional development.
  8. Clear Police Security Clearance (or willing to obtain)
  9. Clear Child Intervention Record Check (or willing to obtain)
  10. First Aid certification (or willing to obtain)
