In a letter sent to child care programs on September 1, 2020, Children's Services shared what the third phase of child care relief funding looks like:
"The third phase of child care relief funding committed by Minister Schulz earlier this year will be sent to centres on September 15 and received within 3-10 business days. In addition to the $6.9 million already committed in the three-stage plan, there is an additional $8.2 million going to your centres as part of the bilateral agreement with the federal government.
Minister Schulz has worked closely with the child care working group on how best to address the diverse needs of centres across the province to ensure fairness and equity. Funding will be provided based on the number of licensed/approved spaces to support you to procure cleaning supplies, masks, and other COVID-related needs, as we head into the fall.
Funding of $109 per space will be provided to all licensed day care, out-of-school care, group family child care, innovative child care and preschool programs. Please note that Early Learning and Child Care Centres ($25/day programs) are not eligible for these payments as they have already received federal funds to use as per their grant deliverables. Family day home funding will be provided to each agency to be distributed to providers, with 80% directed to providers ($87.20 per space) and 20% directed to agencies ($21.80 per space).
For programs that have not been set up to receive a payment from the provincial government (such as preschools, group family child care and innovative programs), please complete this form with the required information to receive a direct deposit and submit it to the Child Care Claims Unit at firstname.lastname@example.org. This vendor set-up can take up to three weeks so you are encouraged to submit this form as soon as possible."
