ECE Day

Event Date
Fri, May 16 2025, All day

Every year on the third Friday in May, the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Alberta (AECEA) celebrates Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Day.

On May 16, 2025, we invite you to honour the dedicated professionals who shape the minds and hearts of our youngest learners. As we celebrate this day, let's take a moment to recognize the profound impact early childhood educators have on future generations.

To celebrate Early Childhood Educator Day, here are some meaningful ways you can show appreciation and gratitude:

  • Thank You Notes: Encourage parents, children, and colleagues to write heartfelt thank-you notes or letters expressing their appreciation for the hard work and dedication of early childhood educators.
  • Recognition Ceremony: Organize a special ceremony or assembly to publicly acknowledge and celebrate early childhood educators in your community. Consider presenting certificates or awards to honour their contributions.
  • Professional Development Opportunities: Support the growth of early childhood educators by providing access to workshops, training sessions, or conferences focused on early learning and development.
  • Gifts and Tokens of Appreciation: Show your appreciation with thoughtful gifts such as flowers, gift cards, or personalized items that reflect the educators’ interests and passions.
  • Personalized Celebrations: Tailor celebrations to suit the preferences of the educators. Whether it’s a themed party, potluck lunch, or team-building activity, a personalized event can make educators feel truly valued.
  • Professional Growth: Invest in the professionalization of the workforce by gifting AECEA memberships to early childhood educators.
  • Reflect and Recharge: Encourage educators to take time for self-care and to reflect on their achievements and the impact they’ve made in the lives of children and families. Remind them that their well-being is essential to providing quality care and education.
  • Showcase Information: Share or display this poster created by Children First: Community Child Care Network Society to raise awareness and inspire appreciation.
  • Social Media Shoutouts: Use social media to share stories, testimonials, and messages of gratitude for early childhood educators. Click the button below to create and share your own ECE appreciation post—we look forward to seeing your messages on our social media channels!

Let’s come together to honour and celebrate the incredible work of early childhood educators who play a vital role in shaping the future of our children and our society.

Happy Early Childhood Educator Day!

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
