AECEA Believes that QUALITY EARLY LEARNING AND CHILD CARE MATTERS
Did You Know...The Alberta Child Care Licensing Act and Regulations (Licensing) expired on January 2021?
AECEA Recommends:
- Adopting Alberta's early learning and curriculum framework Flight: Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework (Makovicuk et al. 2014), in all licensed and regulated child care programs in the province.
- Recognizing the importance of quality early learning and child care in the preamble to the act.
- Ensuring Alberta's goals for high-quality early learning and child care help children to reach their full potential while:
- Developing resilience, determination, confidence, creativity, critical thinking, communication and social skills.
- Becoming responsible citizens who make positive contributions to society with a respect for nature, the environment, and social and cultural diversity.
- Recognizing the importance of peace, equality and friendship
These changes will ensure quality early learning and child care programming for Alberta's children.
Ask: How will the new act and regulations go beyond mere safety and demand quality early learning and child care?
