We invite you to share your knowledge, experience, and ideas at AECEA’s 2027 Essential Pieces Conference, taking place virtually on May 14-15, 2027.
This year’s theme, From Voice to Vision: Growing Together in Early Learning, explores how we strengthen our professional identity, connect our knowledge with everyday practice, and work together to shape the future of early learning and child care.
Belonging is the golden thread woven throughout the conference — connecting our relationships with children, families, colleagues, communities, and the profession itself.
We welcome session proposals aligned with one of four interconnected streams:
- Professional Identity & Voice: Who are we? Exploring educator voice, ethics, professional judgement, advocacy, and recognition of the profession.
- Pedagogy & Practice: How do we enact what we believe? Connecting our values and knowledge with play, curriculum, inclusion, reflective practice, and responsive relationships.
- Leadership & Collective Growth: How do we grow together? Sharing approaches to mentorship, collaboration, educator well-being, and leadership at every level.
- Vision & Possibility: What are we building together? Imagining possibilities for workforce development, equity, reconciliation, innovation, and the future of early learning and child care in Alberta.
We encourage proposals that offer meaningful learning outcomes, practical ideas, and opportunities for reflection or participation. We welcome diverse perspectives and ways of knowing, including Indigenous knowledge, lived experience, research, and practice wisdom.
Whether you are an early childhood educator, family day home educator, program leader, researcher, student, Elder, Knowledge Keeper, or community partner, we want to hear what you have to share.
Submission deadline: December 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ABT
