Alberta Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Bursary Program

On August 18, 2025, the Government of Alberta announced a new bursary program for up to 300 aspiring and advancing early childhood educators in Alberta over a three-year period.

Alberta’s government is investing more than $3.3 million from the Canada-Alberta Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement to make it easier to study close to home.

This program provides financial support to students pursuing an early learning and child care (ELCC) certificate at an approved Alberta institution. Whether you’re just beginning your journey as an early childhood educator or looking to expand your skills, this bursary can help you succeed.

Bursary Information:

  • Receive $10,000 in bursary funding.
  • Available to students enrolling in approved ELCC programs at approved Alberta post-secondary institutions.
  • Payments are disbursed in two instalments:

    • Second payment after completing your certificate, obtaining Level 2 certification, and securing employment at a licensed child care program in Alberta.
  • Commit to working 2,000 hours within two years in Alberta’s licensed child care sector after graduation.

How to Apply:
