In fall 2022, the Muttart Foundation in partnership with the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Alberta and the Alberta Leaders Caucus sponsored a series of focus group discussions with certified early childhood educators across Alberta.
The focus groups provided early childhood educators with the opportunity to share their thoughts on the challenges facing the field and the strategies required to help build workforce capacity as system building begins. They also allocated time for educators to share what they knew and understood about the Canada-Alberta Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement and indicate how they would like to contribute to the work that lies ahead.
The following report presents the results from these discussions. It draws on the voices of early childhood educators to help identify the workforce investments required to support early learning and child care system building.
