Do you want to contribute to tools that empower early childhood educators to advocate for themselves and the profession? We want to hear from you!
We are excited to announce a unique opportunity for early childhood educators and early learning and child care (ELCC) students in Alberta to share their experiences and insights in a series of focus groups. Your input will help shape the development of a Self-Advocacy Toolkit designed specifically to support early childhood educators in advocating for themselves across the province.
Open to all those working and/or studying in Alberta’s ELCC field.
What is Self-Advocacy?
Self-advocacy topics might include: fair compensation, access to PD opportunities, and workplace conditions. We want to hear your thoughts on advocating for yourself in these areas, along with any other topics you bring to the table!
What to Expect if Selected:
If you are selected to join a group, you can expect:
- The session will last approximately one hour.
- We will tell you a bit about AECEA and the self-advocacy toolkit project.
- Together, we’ll discuss your experiences and ideas around self-advocacy and explore how we can create a toolkit that meets your needs. Our discussion will be guided by open-ended questions.
- Your responses will be anonymized, and the session will be recorded for analysis purposes only.

There will be limited space in the focus groups. Please be advised that participants will be selected to ensure a diverse representation of roles and certification levels. Only those determined will be contacted with further details.
