In this reflective and practical session, educators will be invited to shift their lens from managing behaviours to understanding them. Rather than asking “how do I stop this?”, we’ll explore what children might be seeking through their actions—connection, safety, autonomy, or understanding. Through intentional observation, relationship-based strategies, and reflective dialogue, participants will deepen their capacity to respond with care, curiosity, and compassion.
Session participants will:
- Reflect on what behaviours may be communicating in early learning environments
- Explore strategies rooted in observation, connection, and responsive caregiving
- Reconsider traditional approaches to “managing” behaviour through a relationship-based lens
- Practice tools for co-regulation and emotional support
- Plan one relationship-focused strategy to bring back to their own learning space
