ARCQE - Creating Healthy Environments for Children

Event Date
Tue, Nov 7 2023, 6 - 8pm

ARCQE is pleased to share that it has joined forces with Health Canada in bringing a new professional learning series focused on environmental health topics to guide educator practice in providing healthy early learning environments for children. Learning objectives supported through these new offerings reflect the following:

  1. To recognize health exposure issues related to chemicals and pollutants in your environment, including potential hazards to yourselves and children in your care.

  2. To identify and take actions to prevent and reduce health risks to yourselves and children in your care, from exposure to chemicals and pollutants at early childhood education settings.

  3. To utilize Health Canada's tools, products and resources to increase your awareness of health impacts related to environmental health factors, including chemical management, radon and air quality.

This professional learning series is delivered in two parts, supporting information pertaining to 4 modules as follows:

  1. Module 1: What Are Chemicals?

  2. Module 2: Chemicals and Pollutants in Early Childcare Settings

  3. Module 3: Radon

  4. Module 4: Outdoor Air Quality and Conclusion

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
