Informed Choice Matters

AECEA Believes that INFORMED CHOICE MATTERS

Did You Know...The Alberta Child Care Licensing Act and Regulations (Licensing) expired on January 2021?

AECEA Recommends:

  • Legislating appropriate minimum standard for private babysitters.
These should include a requirement for private babysitters to post, at the entrance to their premises, a notice informing parents that they are not regulated and not monitored by the government.
  • Legislating clear and appropriate maximums for the number of children that private babysitters can care for at any one time.

These changes will help to recognize the importance and need for quality for all children. It will also help parents to make better informed early learning and child care decisions.

Ask: How will the new act and regulations allow parents to make informed choices?
