Self-Advocacy Toolkit Focus Groups Expression of Interest

We are excited to announce a unique opportunity for early childhood educators and early learning and child care (ELCC) students in Alberta to share their experiences and insights in a series of focus groups. Your input will help shape the development of a Self-Advocacy Toolkit designed specifically to support early childhood educators in advocating for themselves across the province.

Focus Group Details

  • Who: Open to all those working and/or studying in Alberta's ELCC field (members and non-members of AECEA).
  • What: Collaborative discussions to explore your experiences, needs, and ideas for self-advocacy as an early childhood educator.

What is self-advocacy?

It means speaking up for your needs, rights, and professional well-being. As an early childhood educator, self-advocacy helps you gain respect, resources, and support to thrive in your career. Self-advocacy topics might include: fair compensation, access to PD opportunities, and workplace conditions. We want to hear your thoughts on advocating for yourself in these areas, along with any other topics you bring to the table!

Why join?

  • Share your experiences and ideas in a safe, supportive space.
  • Help shape upcoming resources based on real needs and challenges from the field.
  • Be part of the movement to empower educators and strengthen our profession through self-advocacy.
