Infants depend on their caregivers for the nurturing, positive interactions they require for their healthy development. Each day has thousands of moments where caregivers can help infants learn and grow, but for many people, communicating with infants remains a mystery. Luckily, while they may not have fully developed language yet, infants can tell us what they need. This session will review the cues infants use to communicate with us as well as important stages of development in infancy and suggestions for interacting with infants through care and play.
Objectives
- Review key developmental needs in the first year of life
