Professional Development Opportunities

Below is a list of workshops that early childhood educators (ECE) can access. ECEs are encouraged to participate in as many professional development opportunities as they choose, depending on interest and available time.

For several of these professional development opportunities, licensed child care programs will have access to paid release time for their ECEs while they are engaging in this training through each individual vendor. Staff release time includes paying a staff’s wages for education and training and/or wages for a staff to offset the costs to operators and increase ECEs ability to participate. This funding is outside that which is available from the Alberta Child Care Grant Funding Program.

If you are interested in participating in any of these opportunities, please connect directly with each organization offering this training for details of how to access these opportunities and how/if release time funding will be available.

Who is eligible for paid release time?
All certified educators who work in licensed child care, including preschools, daycares, licensed family day homes and school-age programs are eligible to claim release time funding.

To view other professional development opportunities, see our events calendar.

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
