AECEA uses the Choosing the Right Professional Development Toolkit as a guide when evaluating which opportunities to include on this page. This ensures that the listed professional development (PD) opportunities align with quality, relevance, and responsiveness to the early learning and child care sector in Alberta.
Below is a list of PD opportunities that early childhood educators (ECEs) can access. ECEs are encouraged to participate in as many opportunities as they choose, depending on their interests and availability.
For many of these opportunities, licensed child care programs may be eligible to access release time funding for their educators. Release time funding refers to funding that covers an educator’s wages during training and/or the wages of another staff member to cover their absence. This support is offered to reduce the cost to operators and increase educators’ ability to participate in PD. The funding, along with PD funding to cover the cost of the training itself, is provided by the Alberta Child Care Grant Funding Program.
If you are interested in participating in any of the listed opportunities, please contact the organization offering the training directly for registration details and to confirm whether release time funding is available.
